Por iniciativa del Profesor Austreberto Velásquez Díaz y la colaboración del Comité Promejoramiento de Godínez viene a la Telesecundaria a ésta comunidad en el año de 1,999.  Por este tiempo el gobierno de Guatemala estaba probando un proyecto Educativo con cierta tecnología para el sistema de enseñanza-aprendizaje; para áreas rurales.

TS(Telesecundaria) trabaja con un sólo maestro como ¨facilitador¨, es el que imparte las materias en el grado.  Los y las estudiantes inician sus estudios cada día con la sesión viéndola por televisión

Thanks to the initiative of Profesor Austreberto Velásquez Diaz and the collaboration of the “Betterment Committee of Godínez”, the ‘Telesecondary’ came to this community in 1999.  At this time, the Guatemalan government was testing an educational project with technology for a teaching/learning system in rural areas. 

TS (telesecondary) functions with only one teacher as a facilitator, who distributes the materials for the grade.  The students begin each day’s studies with a session watching classes on television.

UBICACIÓN GEOGRAFICA:

Godínez, una aldea del municipio de San Andrés Semetebaj en el Departamento de Sololá, posee una población aproximada de 1,150 habitantes, según censo realizado en el año 2,000.  Dista de la cabecera municipal 9 Km aproximadamente y a 40 de la Cabecera departamental.

Posee un clima frío a 2,164.97 M/SNM.  Su base económica es la agricultura con técnicas tradicionales, al 90% de sus habitantes pertenece a la etnía Kaqchikel y el 10% son ladinos.

Godínez es una comunidad centro de otras circunvecinas y son las siguientes: Comunidad de Porvenir Chipop, Chuiquistel y la aldea de Xequistel (municipio de San Antonio Palopó), las Comunidades de Xepec y Pacuman perteneciente al municipio de Santa Catarina, las Comunidades de Los Robles, Chuisajcap y la aldea Las Canoas pertenecientes al municipio de San Andrés Semetebaj

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION

Godinéz, a village in the municipality of San Andrés Semetebaj, in the Department of Sololá, has a population of about 1,150 inhabitants, according to a 2002 census.  It’s approximately 9 km from the municipal head, and 40 from the departmental head.

It has a cold climate at 2,164.97 mts above sea level.  Its economic base is agricultural, using traditional techniques, and 90% of its people are indigenous of the Kaqchikel language group, 10% are ladino.

Godinez is a crossroads for neighboring rural communities that include: Community of Porvenir Chipop, Chuiquistel and the village of Xequistel (of the municipality of San Antonio Palopó), the Communities of Xepec and Pacuman belonging to the municipality of Santa Catarina, the Communities of Los Robles, Chuisajcap and the village Las Canoas belonging to the municipality of San Andrés Semetebaj.

Puesto que el Ministerio de Educación no nos ha asistido desde el año pasado con textos y audiovisuales.

Al vernos ante ésta situación, nos hemos organizado: Padres de Familia, Comité de Padres de Familia, Asociación de Estudiantes y Facilitadores, para recaudar fondos y tratar de resolver nuestra situación educativa, lo estamos logrando pero en una mínima parte; la gente colabora pero por ser una comunidad agrícola su situación económica es demasiada baja, por la tanto su ayuda es mínima, pero con mucha generosidad.

The Ministry of Education has not helped since last year with texts or audiovisual materials.

Finding ourselves in this situation, we have organized:  Parents of Families, the Committee of Parents and Families and the Association of Students and Facilitators in order to raise funds and try to resolve our educational situation.  We are achieving, but only a small part, because the people collaborating come from an agricultural community with a depressed economic situation, and in spite of their great generosity, it’s not enough.

 

FRUTAS DE LA TELESECUNDARIA

 

De los primeros estudiantes egresados de Tercero Básico el 80% siguió sus estudios para una profesionalización; de ésta manera el año entrante se estarán graduando según la carrera que haya escogido.  En la misma situación esta la segunda promoción del año pasado.

 

Pero de forma especial dos estudiantes estudiaron Bachillerato por Madurez y ahora se encuentran su segundo semestre en la Universidad cursando la carrera: Administración de Empresas.

Otros estudiantes se graduarán éste año como Técnico y Programador en Computadoras.

FRUITS OF THE TELESECONDARY

Of the first class of Third Year graduates (equivalent to north american 9th grade), 80% went on to study a profession and this year are graduating into their chosen careers.  Last year’s graduates enjoy the same success. 

 

Among special graduates are 2 studying for their Bachelor’s and are in their second semester of University pursuing degrees in Business Administration.

Other students are graduating this year as Computer Programmers and Technicians.

Telesecundaria puede abrir más puertas para más estudiantes con deseo de triunfar, pero el gran problema es la carencia de audiovisuales, etc. para ofrecerles a los y las estudiantes una comodidad pedagógica.

 

Por una juventud feliz y capacitada seguiremos luchando.

Telesecondary can open more doors to more students who have the desire to succeed, but our great problem is the need for audiovisual materials etc in order to offer students a quality education.
