KIX K´ASTAJOQ ALTOMAB´
DESPIERTEN NIÑOS
Desde 1998 en las Escuelas de Nahuala y Santa Catarina Ixtahuacan (23 escuelas en total) se han realizado actividades a favor del Proyecto Kix Kastajoq Altomab que significa Despierte niña.. Este proyecto ha logrado capacitación a madres y padres de familia, capacitación del área rural, producción de programas de radio infantil, dotación mínima de material didáctico para docentes.
Una meta importante de este proyecto es lograr LA PROMOCIÓN DE LA NINA DEL ÁREA RURAL A LA ESCUELA. Otro objetivo ha sido la DISMINUIR LA DESERCIÓN ESCOLAR EN LA NIÑA, promoviendo la equidad de genero y participación activa de maestros, padres, madres de familia, autoridades, lideres comunitarios.

KIX K´ASTAJOQ ALTOMAB´
AWAKEN CHILDREN
Since 1998, in the schools in Nahuala and Santa Catarina Ixtahuacan (total of 23 schools) the project ´Awaken Children´ has been active. It provides training for parents, training in the rural areas, radio production and programs for children, provides minimal school supplies for teachers.
The program´s primary goal is to PROMOTE SCHOOL ATTENDANCE OF GIRLS IN RURAL AREAS, lessening the frequency of girls abandoning their studies, thereby promoting gender equity and active participation of teachers, parents, government authorities, and community leaders.

BENEFICIARIOS DIRECTOS.
3,795 alumnos inscritos en el presente ciclo escolar, de pre-primaria bilingüe, primaria, y alumnos del nivel medio (ciclo básico)
120 docentes
30 Establecimientos Educativos.


BENEFICIARIOS INDIRECTOS:
1,410 alumnos de diferentes edades atendidos por el Comité Nacional de Alfabetización (CONALFA-COMAL)
25 comunidades pertenecientes a la cabecera municipal.

DIRECT BENEFICIARIES

INDIRECT BENEFICIARIES
1,410 students of all ages attending literacy classes held by the National Committee for Literacy (CONALFA-COMAL)
25 communities surrounding the municipal head.

OBJETIVOS:
1. Equipar las escuelas con COMPUTADORAS y conectarlas a Internet y uso del mismo para investigaciones y para mejorar la calidad educativa

2. Beneficiar directamente a los niños, niñas y jóvenes de la comunidad con la producción y multiplicación de material didáctico disponible por Internet.

3. Fortalecer la educación a través de una implementación y modernización Institucional.

4. Apoyar la Docencia del Maestro especialmente la educación Bilingüe e interculturalidad con equidad y género.

5. Promover y fortalecer la participación de la Comunidad Educativa dentro de la Reforma Educativa.

6. Contrarrestar el alto porcentaje de Analfabetismo en las comunidades a través de impresión de material didáctico de apoyo con el apoyo de este Proyecto.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

1. Equip all the schools with COMPUTERS and connect them to the Internet to use them for research and to better the quality of education.

2. Directly benefit the children and youth of the community with production and distribution of didactic materials available through the Internet.

3. Strengthen education by implementing modernization on an institutional level.

4. Support teacher´s education, particularly for Bilingual education, incorporating interculturality and gender equity.

5. Promote and strengthen the Educational Community´s participation in Educational Reform

6. Arrest the high percentage of Illiteracy in the communities by the use of printed materials and didactic programs available through the network.

Justificación:
La Reforma Educativa nos lleva a una transformación integral del Sistema Educativo.
La implementación de una página Web y redes internacionales educativas promoverá modernización institucional, específicamente en la Supervisión Educativa, de Santa Catarina Ixtahuacán, es urgente é indispensable con el propósito de ampliar la cobertura escolar, mejorar la calidad educativa, lograr eficiencia en el campo laboral y recibir el apoyo necesarios de amigos e instituciones interesadas en brindar recursos adecuados para apoyar el aprendizaje de los educandos y la docencia de los maestros. Al lograr este Proyecto vendrá a satisfacer en un alto porcentaje las necesidades mencionadas anteriormente.

Justification:
Educational Reform is taking us through an integral transformation of the Educational System.
Implementation of the Website and the international educational network will promote institutional modernization, specifically in the Educational Supervision of Santa Catarina Ixtahuacán, where it is urgent and indispensable to expand the coverage of schools, better educative quality, achieve efficiency in fields of employment, and receive necessary help from friends and institutions interested in bringing us adequate resources to support learning and the training of teachers. To achieve this project will satisfy a high percentage of the aforementioned necessities.
